The project

Amicare Foundation, in collaboration with Amicabre Travel Services initiated the program "Meet the Kenyans." It involves committing visiting tourists with professional backgrounds or self-initiative, groups, individuals or companies to assist in development of schools while at the same time enjoying Kenya's cultural and safari adventure.

Mission 

Improve facilities in primary schools so as to provide education opportunities for the Kenyan child. 

Objectives 

*Refurbish existing schools in rural areas(country side) for a comfortable learning environment
*Provide basic learning materials
*Build schools in areas without
*Make possible cultural integration trouw working and sharing experiences with the local community 

What it entails 

MTK gives an opportunity for individuals, groups or companies travelling in Kenya to lend a hand improving primary schools in the country. Trough participation in the projects, the participant meets with locals form different communities directly. This enables them develop and share their personal skills.

Apart from the diverse flora and fauna, Kenya boosts of an immense cultural wealth. The Kenyan experience will explore the various elements of culture: language, food, clothing, songs(dances and music), greetings, architecture, rituals(ceremonies, myths, religion), stories, traditional medicine (healers, tools), and values. All of these characteristics gives every community its identity, character, self-pride, self-respect and purpose. 

Working Groups 

Participants will be divided into groups depending on the number and tasks to be accomplished. Each group will select a team leader. The team leader will wordt with a local who will assist in translations and be a mediator between the group and community 

Activities 

Depending on the project, activities will include:
* Painting walls
* Building doors and windows
* Roofing
* Constructing recreational areas.
* Donating books, stationary, uniforms and other learning materials
* Building classrooms, sanitation facilities and furniture 

Who it envolves 

MTK welcomes anyone with the will power and mind to give a helping hand in whatever way. This means that individuals need not have any skills to participate.
